Its force comes from a Catholic landscape slowly received and tended: a chapel dedicated to Mary Help of Christians, generations of pilgrims, and Discalced Carmelites who have guarded the place since 1906. The hill makes a simple demand. Leave the car, enter the church, walk with Christ toward Calvary, and let the saints of Carmel teach you to remain before God.

The first chapel
A log chapel is dedicated under the title Mary Help of Christians, giving the hill its lasting Marian identity.

The Carmelites arrive
Discalced Carmelites from Bavaria accept care of the shrine and begin the custody that continues today.

The present church
The cornerstone is laid in 1926; the lower church opens in 1929 and the upper church is dedicated in 1931.
