A Catholic coastal city that still keeps Holy Week around Our Lady, her Son, and the sea
On the eastern shore of Flores, Larantuka keeps Holy Week as liturgy, not as display. The Cathedral of the Queen of the Rosary is the parish and the bishop's church. Kapela Tuan Ma holds the image of Our Lady. Kapela Tuan Ana, on the main road at Pohon Sirih, holds the image of Christ. The sea procession of Tuan Meninu belongs to that same prayer. It is not an extra.

Sacred Geography
Catholic Larantuka sits on a narrow coastal shelf between Ile Mandiri and the strait that faces Adonara. The cathedral, Kapela Tuan Ana, and Kapela Tuan Ma are not a countryside shrine circuit. They are town places, close enough to walk, and the water is part of the map. Tuan Ana and the Mater Dolorosa prayer garden face one another at Pohon Sirih. Kapela Tuan Ma stands further along the shore, on the order of seven hundred meters away.

Practical, not booking
Larantuka is a working Catholic town, not a ticketed sanctuary. The cathedral is a parish church. The chapels keep their images through the year and are opened for public veneration especially in Holy Week.
Do not invent a visit around chapel interiors in ordinary time. If a chapel is closed, pray at the threshold or at the cathedral and walk the shore between them.
Holy Week arrangements, including the opening of Kapela Tuan Ma by the royal house and the Confreria, change by year. Confirm the current calendar with the Diocese of Larantuka before traveling.
Good Friday custom in Larantuka includes black clothing for the processions. Follow local direction rather than treating the day as a photo opportunity.
The sea procession of Tuan Meninu uses real boats on the strait. It is part of the devotion. Watch from the shore unless you have a place in the local arrangement.
Flores is reached through Maumere or Labuan Bajo, then overland or by air to eastern Flores. Larantuka is a small town; Holy Week fills it.
Servant of God Gabriel Yohanes Wilhelmus Manek, first bishop of Larantuka, belongs to this diocese's memory. There is no saint page for him here yet.
