At Holy Trinity in Kraków, pilgrims climb toward the chapel that keeps Saint Hyacinth’s relics. The Dominican church is a place where his mission remains part of a living order of preaching.
Born Jacek Odrowąż around 1185, Hyacinth encountered the first generation of Dominicans and joined the Order of Preachers. He helped establish Dominican life in Poland, with Kraków as its enduring center.
His ministry sent him beyond one church. Dominican memory associates him with preaching, foundations, and journeys across Central and Eastern Europe. Later miracle stories, including the familiar image of him carrying the Eucharist and a statue of Mary, are devotional traditions rather than a diary of documented events.
He died in Kraków in 1257 and was canonized in 1594. His relic chapel at Holy Trinity invites prayer for the courage to proclaim Christ and for fidelity in the long work of forming communities.
Hyacinth helped give the early Dominican movement a Polish home. His relic chapel keeps that preaching vocation visible while later miracle imagery remains in its proper devotional register.

Hyacinth is buried at the Dominican church of Holy Trinity in Kraków, where his relic chapel remains a focus of prayer. Images of a miraculous rescue with a monstrance and Marian statue belong to later tradition.
