Gua Maria Kerep Ambarawa is a grotto of the Archdiocese of Semarang, on ground given for the Church and blessed in the Marian Year of 1954. There is no approved apparition here. What the Church has given this hillside is a Lourdes statue, a place to pray the Rosary, and a compound in the care of the Parish of Santo Yusup Ambarawa. Come to kneel before Our Lady. The Archdiocese has used this grotto as a pilgrimage place, including for the Jubilee of 2025. It is quieter and less distinctive than Sendangsono. It is still a shrine. Pray here as the local Church prays.

The Marian Year
Pius XII kept 1954 as a Marian Year for the centenary of the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Catholics at Ambarawa built a grotto in that year, with students and religious carrying river stone from Sungai Panjang onto the former ground of the Bruder Apostolik.

The blessing
On the solemnity of the Assumption, a Sunday that year, Mgr Albertus Soegijapranata SJ, Archbishop of Semarang, blessed the grotto and the statue of Our Lady. Accounts of the day say the statue was blessed with water from Lourdes. That is a contact with Lourdes, not an apparition at Kerep.

Santo Yusup Ambarawa
The Archdiocese still names Gua Maria Kerep as the pilgrimage place of this parish, the church known as Gereja Jago. Later bishops confirmed a managing team. The grotto is not a separate apparition shrine. It is how this parish prays with Mary.

2025
A Jubilee pilgrimage place
The Archdiocese of Semarang named GMKA among the places where the faithful might obtain the Jubilee indulgence, and First Friday Mass and confession have been offered on the terrace. That is ordinary diocesan pilgrimage, not a new claim about the grotto.

- 01 Prayer at the grotto Before Our Lady of Lourdes. Flowers have a place. Do not leave litter.
- 02 The Rosary Prayed on the terrace and at the grotto, especially in May and October.
- 03 Mass when offered First Friday and feast Masses have been offered here. Confirm with the parish.
- 04 Confession when offered Jubilee First Fridays have included the sacrament. Do not assume a daily confessional.
- 05 Quiet under the trees The compound is small. Keep your voice down.
